SecureWorld Boston 2016 Recap

SecureWorld 2016 was another great event for our local chapter. The SecureWorld coordinators are always supportive and accommodating!

For many of us, this event is one of the best networking opportunities we get and at a great price. This year was our 4th year having a booth and it may have been our most successful one as far as getting new people to sign up for our chapter communications. Please congratulate the team!

During our Chapter meeting on the first day of the event, Mark Aiello, President of Cyber 360 Inc, presented “Show Me the Money”, in which he discussed the findings of the (ISC)2 Global Information Security Workforce Study (GISWS) and his professional experience in finding qualified candidates for Information Security in various business sectors. He had expressed that having certifications is beneficial, but one that stands out is the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) which is managed by (ISC)2.

Mark also spoke about the conundrum of finding qualified candidates to backfill the workforce. More often than not, the company sets high requirements for the candidate that often mimic the resume of the employee that just left. Some companies need to remind themselves that they shouldn’t replace their responsibilities of management, training and employee mentoring for finding a candidate that does not really need any of that to get started. If you have strong training and mentorship programs, you can mold a less senior employee that has a strong ambition into a highly technical one that will meet and exceed your requirements over time. The employee may even become more loyal and will payback what is invested into them several times over!

New York, NY – November 7, 2013 – Staffing 360 Solutions, Inc. (OTCQB: STAF), a public company engaged in the provision of international staffing services in IT, financial, accounting, healthcare, and cybersecurity industries, announced today that its Cyber 360 Solutions division is partnering with the (ISC)2 Eastern Massachusetts Chapter to help promote and support the (ISC) Foundation’s Safe and Secure Online program. The (ISC)2 Foundation is the non-profit charitable trust of (ISC) (“ISC-squared”), the world’s largest information security professional body and administrators of the CISSP®.

Cyber 360 Solutions will provide volunteers and corporate resources to the (ISC)2 Eastern Massachusetts Chapter to propel expansion of the Safe and Secure Online program into schools throughout the northeast U.S. region. The (ISC)2 Foundation’s Safe and Secure Online program began in 2006 in conjunction with Childnet International to bring (ISC)2’s information security expert members into classrooms to help children ages 7-14 learn how to protect themselves online and become responsible digital citizens. To date, volunteers have reached over 135,000 students and 2,000 parents in Canada, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, and United States through the program

“We are pleased to formalize this relationship, as it will provide critical cybersecurity education and awareness to children in our local community,” stated Mark Aiello, President of the Cyber 360 Solutions division.  “As part of Cyber 360 Solutions’ commitment to corporate social responsibility, we will provide full-time pay for the time employees spend volunteering for the program because we believe in creating a safe and secure cyber environment for society at large.”

The Safe and Secure Online program’s presentation materials are available in French, German, and English to (ISC)2-certified members who have successfully completed a criminal background check and training that covers program materials and advice on communicating with children. Topics in the presentation include how to avoid identity theft; how to interact safely online; how to recognize dangers with common practices such as geo-tagging, managing passwords, safely downloading music, and avoiding malicious traps; and where to go for help. The presentation also includes powerful, interactive videos that cover topics like cyberbullying. Continue reading
